Well. What can I say? Downtown is in a state of panic, I’m planning to go venue to venue without returning home for a week, and my bank account is already cringing at the list of shows I want to see: It must be APAP again. This year the Urgent Artist is pleased to bring back our APAP Challenge (America’s most beloved blog-based one-sentence review contest for the APAP conference in NYC) for Year 2!
If you read this blog, there’s a high probability you’re going to see at least one show in the next two weeks. If you’re anything like me, you’re going to try to see all of them. We know you don’t have a lot of time, but we’d love to get all the dirt, opinions, who’s-who, and genuine experience of it all condensed down to something magic that we can share and compare. Thus: Urgent Artist’s second annual APAP Challenge. Write a quick one-sentence review of any(and every!)thing you see, and you might just win the honor of being awesome. Here’s how to enter:
- See an APAP show (any APAP show!)
- Write a one-sentence review.
- Email it to urgentartist@gmail.com by Monday January 16th at 10pm
- We’ll declare the APAP Challenge Winner and Runners Up, and then open it up to you to pick the Reader’s Choice Champion
- All winners get the complete and utter honor of listing their title on their resume, flaunting it on first dates, and other such showmanship.
- One entry per-show please, but you can enter as many times as you’d like.
See? Easy as pie.
As we gear up for year 2, we also must pay tribute to 2010′s winner, Mary Love Hodges, who stole the winningest entry with her review of Ann Liv Young’s Ann Liv Young Does Sherry at Abrons for American Realness:
I wanted to sit in the splash zone, so while ALV courted– and insulted– presenters (“y’all are just gonna wanna book the hell outta me”), I was laughing too hard and squirming too much… what did you think, John Jasperse?
You can check out the other runners up from 2010 here, and remember, send in your entries by Monday January 16th! May the best sentence emerge victorious!
