As we announced last week, the AOMC’s next showing of barrish will be in Philly on Saturday, November 19th! We’re really excited about this showing for a number of reasons: The SkyDive sounds like a fantastic series in an interesting space, we’re always down for a road trip, and perhaps most importantly, this will mark our first presence as a company in Philly! Exciting stuff. As mentioned before, this opportunity comes to us not through the MENU project, but through a connection/recommendation of one of our dancers, Anna Adams Stark. As such, it’s not directly related to the project (and is not yet attached to sustainable funding), but we’d like to facilitate an adoption of sorts.
We want YOU to help Fund us to Philly!
Here’s the basic idea: rather than use the traditional MENU project structure which brings one curator into the process, we wanted to make this showing a crowd-funding project, and open it up to a shared curation from multiple individuals. We’re trying to meet a total cost of $300 for the showing (which covers dancer pay and admin stipends, transportation costs of driving there and back, and dedicated rehearsal time), and hoping to divide that cost across as many people are interested in participating. Each funder will get to offer direct input to the creation of this version of barrish. After the showing, we’ll report back to them on what we learned from the experience and how it will effect the work moving forward. We’ll also send each funder an exclusive video from the show!
This is a great opportunity to test out our MENU project on a small scale and budget, and if you become one of our crowd-funders you’ll be listed along with all the other curators as a major supporter in the creation of the work. There’s no donation too small to be a part of this crowd-funding. Just email us at theAOMC@gmail.com to express your interest, or fill out the request form here.
We’ll keep you updated as we find our curators. Signing off for now…
