Two not-to-be-missed events for next week!
I know it’s a little last minute, but I’ve got two events for you that promise to be pretty awesome. First, on Monday, I’ll be moderating a panel as part of University Settlement’s Salon Series on the role of mess in the creative process. Then, on Tuesday, join me at Tyler Ashley’s first performance party in LES. Details on both below – hope to see you there!
A Mess of One’s Own
Monday, May 24, 7p.m.
Free! +Wine!
The Performance Project at University Settlement and the Ontological Incubator team up to host a series of salons for artists and the public, free of charge. Each salon features an artists panel and is moderated by a guest arts writer.
Moderated by Sarah A.O. Rosner and featuring artist panelists Hannah Bos and Oliver Butler (The Debate Society), Shontina Vernon and Joseph Monroe Webb (Joseph Webb Quartet)
Sometimes the most fulfilling moments in the creative process come when we allow ourselves to get down and messy with the muck of our work. In a creative and economic climate where artists are pressured to be portable (working at many studios rather than a home base), productive (less research and more face time), and successful (higher economic stakes), how do we make the space (physical, mental, and emotional) for ourselves to allow our investigations the time, depth, and mess that they need to come to fruition?
Sarah A.O. Rosner is the founder of A.O.3 (the A.O. Entity), a three-part arts platform that encompasses the A.O. Movement Collective, freelancing collective A.O. PRO(+ductions), and community hub and blog Urgent Artist. An avid dancemaker, businessman, and anti-ephemeralist, she is a maximalist to the core, and happiest when with friends and yelling about art.
This event is free. Everyone is welcome and wine is served.
